Full Name: Rayli (Pronouced Ri-lee) Saelen
Nick Name(s): None
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Race: Dhampir
Class: Worker
Occupation: Mechanic and Weapon-smith
Alliance: None
Persona: Good, Outlaw
Appearance:
Notes:
- Her left eye has a lighter shade of gray than her right eye.
-Has bite-mark scar darkening the skin around her right wrist.
Abilities and Skills:
Lacking her eyesight, her other senses have been evolved to compensate for the lost, and being half-vampire did nothing if not enhanced the adjustment. Her hearing is almost unmatched. Her touch sensitivity is potent enough to feel the vibrations around her and along the ground created by movement, and uses this for her eyes more often than her hearing.
She’s quite skillful in her weapon making skills, making invocations or customizations at a moment’s notice. Her sense of balance, weight, and texture judges each piece she works on, and she knows how to use any weapon she knows how to make. Some of her patrons were nice enough to teach her how to fight, and she integrated these mixed fighting arts with her own special condition, making her difficult to catch off-guard. Her understanding of her sense of touch and hearing can used to detect body alterations, making her a decent lie detector.
Personality:
A mask of hidden intent and intellect personified, Rayli appeared as quiet and reserved, but very loquacious around comfortable people she knows. She uses her informative nature to keep people out of the dark, ironic to her own handicap, but has a very irksome way of telling the truth. She doesn’t sugar-coated it and gives every detail (Telling that the bullet hit the femoral artery and about to bleed to death.). She might choose to be helpful when needed, with some sense of justice. She’ll deny having any hero-type virtues, because she doesn’t believe in heroes. Her stoic perception of reality makes her seem callous or indifferent, but there is a sense of compassion within her discomforting disposition and a hidden wild streak, making risky decisions at the most inopportune of times.
Weapons:
Sword cane 1
Sword cane 2
Rayli always seen with a cane to cope with her handicap, and usually these canes have various swords and daggers concealed. (See links above) The blade of these sword canes are composed of various metals of a different hardness (giving the blade various hues of swirl patterns in the metal and stronger than pure forged steel) and laser-edged with silver plating She keeps various guns and swords in her concealed workplace, but usually prefers a modified sawed-off shotgun rather than her pistols.
Her favorite weapons are throwing spikes. Her usual dealings and encounters, these spikes are usually plated thick with silver and balanced to suit quick throwing and stabbing. (All spikes are black using a mixture that stains the metal without changing the metal's composition) Some of these spikes have a metal band inscribed marking that she can feel, which indicated they are timed hazard spikes that can be activated with a twist of the band. These can be silver-nitrate injecting, ultraviolet releasing, or timed frag spikes.
Fenrir (Other nicknames include Fen-Fen and Fluffy – the latter was a joke by her ex)
Rayli almost lost her hand to this strange monster a few years ago. When it grabbed her wrist with its jaws, it suddenly relented and greeted her friendly, after transforming into the dark-furred Saarlooswolfhond (or Saarloos Wolfdog). Strangely enough, she adopted it as her own and for years, it has become her as her seeing eye and guard dog. It has also trained to recognize the difference on objects she can’t figure out with her other senses, such as value of paper money or difference in metal. Once an experiment that infused powerful blood into tamed dogs (for purpose unknown), Fenris can transform at rare times into a lycan hound, being over twice its original size and strong enough to give vampires and lycans a hard time. Rayli has learned she can calm it with her voice enough to revert back to dog for or use its rage at someone she didn’t like. She always wondered what her pet was injected with, other than lycan blood.
History:
While pregnant with Rayli, a woman was turned by the vampire she ran off with, then abandoned the child she had with her husband for dead in the hands of anyone who took her away.
That’s how Rayli would remember the story if she made an effort to learn this. She doesn’t hate her mother or the vampire that taken her. Her belief is a person has to think more of a person to actually hate them and since they never met; her mother is nothing to waste emotions over.
Not knowing she was half-vampire, Rayli was raised by a village that took her in and was blind only in her left eye. The village was holding its own after the apocalyptic changes, salvaging weapons and restoring then to make a decent amount of wealth. In a time where every hand counted for survival, a child working in such a place is uncommon although somewhat unheard of. Rayli volunteered such work when she was able, looking at it like al games. Other children play games with ball and wheels. Rayli played with machine parts finding which part goes together. She did this, until she was accurate 92% of the time.
It was until she was fourteen when a disorder finally claimed her only working eye. The adults forcefully stopped her from working, and promised to support her needs. However, she hated this idea and was on the verge of running away. However, some people she trusted sneak any part unusual and interesting enough to her. The blind girl learned machinery by remembering the part using touch alone, and eventually could put simple objects like guns together. Some people even came to her for repairs and she obliged without charge. At that time, just being useful meant more to her than money. If only a person did not attempt to take advantage of that…
Someone tried raped her once when she was eighteen, breaking into her home in the middle of the night. Rayli learn of her part vampire traits that night because no human could killed him the way she did. She left the village without a notice, leaving a corpse with a crushed larynx.
Rayli went solo act acting on jobs from weapons and vehicles repair to a few mercenary jobs. There were times she gave her services for free if they gave her a piece of technology or weaponry she doesn’t recognize, and accepted enough money to keep meat on her bones and the inns happy. There was one particular man that took interested in her, and traveled with her for a few months. She learned various forms of technology from that individual that she used to advance her skills, regardless of what interest this man had in her. They went their separate ways without telling each other their real names.
She has established several safe-houses for herself and any client willing to pay the fees, talking jobs from anyone, vampire, lycan, human, or dragon. With a few underground connections and accomplices among mercenaries and various individual, she quietly settled down in her workshop in an undisclosed location with her dog Fenir or Fen-Fen. However, there has been some evidence that her movements have been observed from a distance.
I, Rayli, have read the rules and agreed to obey them. I will not post in anywhere that is Out of Character Base until my character has been disappeared into the "Accepted Characters" board. I will also respect my fellow board members and be as active as I can. I will also not carry off into an argument when my character is killed.
